Overview

Turner's Port of Call stands out as a quintessential bar and grill nestled along the scenic banks of the Niagara River in Grand Island, NY. Its prime location at 997 E River Rd allows patrons to soak in serene waterfront views, whether from the inviting upper patio or right at the dockside, perfectly suited for those arriving by boat. This blend of accessibility and ambiance cultivates a relaxed yet vibrant atmosphere, a rare find for any dining experience.

At the heart of Turner’s appeal is its menu, where the steak sandwich receives notable acclaim for its quality and flavor, earning praise from regulars like Eric Volk. The emphasis on a clean kitchen reflects a commitment to high standards, ensuring that the food matches the inviting surroundings. Beyond the signature sandwich, the bar and grill vibe is enhanced with casual entertainment such as ping pong and darts, creating a lively and social space ideal for groups or solo visitors looking to unwind.

The experience is elevated by the warm, friendly staff who contribute to an atmosphere that feels welcoming from the moment you arrive. The space effortlessly balances a laid-back bar scene with the charm of a waterfront eatery, attracting a diverse crowd—from boaters and locals to families and casual diners. Though the pricing aligns with typical bar expectations, guests seek value in the quality of food, the attentive service, and the unique ambiance coupled with stunning river views.

Since reopening in mid-2021 after a pause in service, Turner's Port of Call has reignited its reputation as a hidden gem along the river. Whether you come by car or boat, the combination of tasty dishes, engaging recreational options, and the open-air vistas crafts a memorable destination that captures the spirit of a true neighborhood bar with an edge of adventure.

Best steak sandwich hands down! Cleanest kitchen anywhere. Enjoy the view of the river from the upper patio or toe up your boat to the docks.

Good news! Turner’s has reopened June 2021, after being closed for more than a year. Hope the dock is fixed so you can go by boat.

Like it! Atmosphere and staff are super friendly and the view you can't beat. Prices are typical for a bar but wish the glasses were bigger for $5 drink is only in a 3 sip glass.

This is far away from the urban chaos of the downtown scene. Fabulous location on the Niagara River with outside deck and cozy bar area. Grand Islands finest crowd and by far the best Strip Steak sandwich around!!
